The current Autumn competitions will finish mid to late May depending on the night. Wednesday is running well behind and should finish on the 5th June. Obviously all nights are still subject to weather & may push us back further.
Fairfield City Oztag will commence the Spring competition on the week of Monday 12th August. It will be a 14 week comp + wet weather finishing no later than Thursday 13th December.
We decided to change the normal Winter comp (start April finish July, August) Summer comp (start October finish Feb, March) for several reasons.
- Avoid the coldest 2 months of the year.
- Avoid State of Origin nights which always has several forfeits if we are forced to play those nights. If we don’t play we push Wednesday night comp back by 3 weeks.
- We have found the Summer comp over the new year loses momentum when we return late January. Several forfeits with teams no longer in finals contention and players losing interest with a six week lay off.
Therefore in 2024 we have played an Autumn comp & will start a Spring competition in August. We will review the success or failure of this idea at the end of the year.
